Hello
I work at the intersection of human rights, social justice, and technology. I focus on studying technologies of censorship, control, and surveillance that threaten social movements and fuel discrimination. I thrive when I can work across disciplinary silos through nurturing collaborations. I am the Head of the Algorithmic Accountability Lab at Amnesty Tech, which is a global interdisciplinary team of researchers, advocates, data scientists, and communications specialists who lead cutting-edge research, advocacy, litigation, and communications into the use of Artificial Intelligence systems by governments in the contexts of military, migration, policing, and welfare.
Previously, I was Researcher/Adviser at Amnesty Tech's renowned Security Lab where I conducted research and advocacy on targeted surveillance and other forms of digital repression, including through award-winning investigations like the Pegasus Project and Predator Files. I also led investigations into surveillance and repression across multiple countries, as well as into the corporate structures of surveillance companies.
Prior to that, I was a Researcher and Campaigner at Amnesty International India where I worked on responding to numerous urgent human rights violations in the country, including on hate crimes, attacks against human rights defenders, and excessive pretrial detention. I began my career at a youth-led organization in Delhi, The YP Foundation, where I worked as a Peer Educator and Associate Coordinator on sexual and reproductive health and rights.
I thrive when I can work across disciplinary silos through nurturing collaborations.I am always interested in speaking with fellow co-creators working at the intersection of technology, justice, and rights. Please get in touch if you'd like to chat.
